Brian Sharbono joined FSI in January 2007 to help initiate and manage the Rural Education Action Project at Shorenstein APARC. He is also involved in research work under the Food Security and the Environment Program at CESP. Both efforts focus on development questions in China. Brian has been involved in coordinating and assessing non-profit / development projects in India, Mexico, Guatemala and Brazil. He previously worked nearly four years on programs at the Beldon Fund, a private foundation providing strategic grants to environmental organizations nationally. He also worked as Research Analyst for the Economic and Regulatory Research Unit at the WA State Department of Ecology. His MA, Columbia University, is in International Affairs (Economic and Political Development), his MS, UC Davis, is in Agricultural and Resource Economics.

Brian wrote the case study, with D. Klooster, et al., "Working with Communities to Strengthen Forest Management in Mexico" published in Thinking Out Loud II:Innovative Case Studies on Participatory Instruments, Internal Publication, ed. Moji Anderson, The Latin American and Caribbean Civil Society Team, World Bank, Washington, D.C. in 2000.
